3D Maths Trail

5th & 6th class has to put on their thinking caps this morning as they took part in a maths trail around the school yard with Ms MaGuire.
They had to look for different shapes in the yard.
Here is an example of the questions they were asked.....
 I have 5 flat faces = 4 faces are triangular, 1 face is square, I have 8 straight edges and I have just 5 vertices. I am a ____________?
How many examples of this 3D shape can you find in the school yard, name those examples.
Do you know what shape this is and where it is located on the yard?

Haunted houses

Our spooky Halloween houses.

Art

The Scream by Edvard Munch.
In art we used a variety of mediums such as paint, charcoal and pastels to recreate this famous painting.

Did you know that Munch created 4 executions of this scene. In 1893 he made a painted version and Then a crayon one. Two years later he created a pastel one and then in 1910, he used tempera paints on board for his final Scream.

Women who made a difference

This week we selected a woman who made a difference and wrote a biographical account of her life.
These women despite obstacles in their way, were courageous and strong.
Here are some of their stories.

“Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement.”
- Helen Keller

Halloween Art

We made Halloween dioramas this week.
